Which interpreting services are best suited for your event?
You’re planning a conference or other event, but don’t know which interpreting service you should choose?
No problem. Here’s a short list with some helpful explanations.
Multilingual events (e.g. galas, conferences, shows, hearings, conventions, meetings)
For these event types I’d recommend simultaneous interpreting (sometimes called ‘simultaneous translation’). Anything that’s said is immediately interpreted into your desired target language.
To do this, I’ll either sit in an interpreting booth or work with a mobile tour guide system (i.e. a receiver that transmits my voice to headphones in real time).
Please note: simultaneous interpreters always work in teams of at least two people due to the high psychological and physical strain on concentration levels and voice..
Group visits and tours (e.g. building sites, museums, factories)
I’d recommend a mobile tour guide system when interpreting for larger groups. If there are only one or two people in the audience, I’ll be happy to accompany you personally and will either interpret simultaneously (i.e. in real time) or consecutively (i.e. with a slight delay).
For short events with only one person (or max. two people), occasionally whispered interpreting (‘chuchotage’) may be suitable. In this case, I’ll stand or sit behind or next to you, and whisper what I’ve interpreted into your ear. However, as this is very tiring for both the interpreter and client, this type of interpreting is only advisable in certain settings.
Bilateral talks, short speeches, presentations or receptions
Here, consecutive interpreting works best.
This means I interpret your content section by section into the target language, with only a brief delay. A special note-taking technique allows me to reproduce coherent passages with a length of up to 10 minutes.
Online meetings, virtual events
Faster and kinder to the planet: meetings, conferences and other events are held increasingly online. Here, remote interpreting (a type of ‘distance interpreting’)is key.
I use special technical equipment for audio or video transmissions to ensure the quality of all multilingual communications is top-notch at your digital event.
Negotiations
When liaison interpreting — sometimes called ‘bilateral interpreting’ or ‘accompanying interpreting’ — I translate short speech sections during a negotiation or conversation into the desired target language. This is done without taking notes, though with a minor delay. That way, I can ask questions or make statements directly to my conversation partner.
However, in business meetings and negotiations, consecutive interpreting is also widely used (see ‘bilateral talks’)

Happy clients
„I have known Cinzia Turrini professionally for almost 10 years. She has distinguished herself as a conference interpreter by consistently hitting the mark in terms of tone, accuracy, and language skills. She is also a talented translator with a broad customer base and long-standing, solid client relationships.
Among other volunteering activities, she makes a unique contribution to her professional community as an elected officer of BDÜ, the largest German professional association for conference interpreters and translators. Special mention must also be made of Ms. Turrini’s excellent social skills.“
Penina Scher, M. A., MBA
Translator and interpreter
„In addition to her role as a translator, Ms Turrini repeatedly worked as a liaison interpreter in different subject areas. Liaison interpretation is the oral translation of coherent statements with a length of up to three minutes. […]
When liaison interpreting, she took great care in her working methods and imposed high quality standards on herself. This was also highlighted regularly by clients.“
